Course 3 Finished and more

So I finished course 3 in September. Here is the rest of what I learned.

I learned to make a Carnation and a Mum

I also learned to make a Daisy and leaves.

We then learned how to put fondant on a cake. and made our final cake.

During September and now October, I have had some more side projects.

I made two footballs with chocolate butter cream icing, which by the way taste like the middle of the Elf cookies. It was Amazing!!!!

 For Halloween I made cupcakes

I started to run out of icing so I put all the left over color in one bag and got really cool rainbow ones. It was awesome!!!!

Start of Course 3

Don't be confused. Yes a skipped course 2. I will go back to it next month. For now I am taking course 3. We get to work with Gum Paste and Fondant. The first class was making bases and ribbons. Tonight was class 2 and here is what I made:

Two Calla Lilies and a Rose

And a Ribbon Bow

Watch for a post this weekend or early next week. My next project is two football cakes.

Cakes on the Side

Through out the course I have had a few chances to practice my cake decorating skills.

I went to a BBQ and made this for dessert:

Then this past weekend I made a cake for the family I nanny for. The littlest one turned two on Labor day. So I made her a cake.

It took forever, because each one of those spots is actually a star. But in the end it was well worth the effort. Everyone loved it.

Cakes Course 1

So August was my first course. The first class was a basic walk through. The second class we decorated a cake.

And yes that is filled with chocolate. The cake it self was from a box, but the buttercream icing was made from scratch.

The third class we learned how to top cupcakes and make flowers.

 These are Pom Pom Flowers
These are Shaggy Mums (Keep your eye out for these in Oct)

For the final class we learned how to make Roses and did a final cake.

New Project(s)

Sorry. I will share more of what happened in Thailand later. For now I want to share with you my newest project(s).

So I have been saying that I want to learn to decorate cakes. I have tried a few before based on pictures I have seen.

Like in February I made:
A red velvet cake

A pie with Hearts (which fell off in the oven)

A regular pie

Then in July I tried something a little harder:

 A four layer (leaning) tower...

 ...that when cut became...
 ...an American Flag.

Since I had fun last year doing this my family decided that for my Birthday they would sign me up for two courses through Micheal's and they bought the kit to go with it. I was excited.
